TENACITY OF TREES

Well today has been lovely and bright ... looking at it from inside the house. Outside ...
the wind was a bitter westerly so not feeling at my best, not wishing to be blown about,
I decided a walk along another forest track in the old quarry. Knowing there is water there for the mad mutt to wash of yesterdays rusty coloured undercarriage.
The daft dog dived happily into this very cold bath and his rusty legs returned to his normal white.
Scenic isn't it? Well it could be if it wasn't for ... lots of fly tipping, burnt out cars, deeply muddy tracks indented with numerous patterns of off road tyre treads, horses hooves and human boot prints. Including my own wellie prints after today!
The dogs legs changed colour again, need you ask? Just have a look at the photograph  >>>
My hooves also turned a different hue.
which got worse as the trog went on. Six muddy feet. So much for the easy option. The puddles were semi-frozen ...
Thin layers of ice indicated last nights drop in temperature. ^^^
But in the less iced over water, small creatures were designing patterns in the mud ...

These small beings have the capability to survive, much like the small tree seedlings that found themselves growing in seemingly infertile  places ...
The tenacity of trees to survive in the hardest conditions, is quite amazing!
