The mist hung low over us all day, not one glimpse of the golden orb, so my photo opportunities were few, it was soggy underfoot , the sheep seemed to be hiding in the grey gloom and even the cattle that I had stopped the car to photograph, were looking really somewhat bedraggled and bemused as if to ask, "What on earth are you doing?"
The light was so dull, that nearly every photograph taken on auto, set the flash off.
The rest of my wandering, was more focused on things near ground level where the dew had created some fascinating effects in tiny cobwebs and even sheep's wool caught on a low pine branch, that had just caught a brief moment of some slanting lightness
There were also moments when small details stood out in the forest, like a small firework
and the colours of these pine needles, trapped in a soft mossy niche of an old pine stump
out beyond the dankness of the pine trees, the grass glistened with millions of rain drops. Amongst all the green shoots regrowing, now that the commons sheep are in-bye, so no longer grazing, all sorts of tiny fungi seemed to gleam and really brightened up a dull day.
Suddenly the dog, pricked up his ears and went racing down to the stile. When I caught up with him, he was still focused intently on track opposite and sure enough he had heard the sound of a farmers Landrover and sheep trailer coming back up to join the main road.
A quick catch up on the latest news as regards current market prices for lamb and a few bits of recent local news before we headed back to dry off damp coats, for the both of us.
