STONE CHATTING

Two avian creatures both on stones, both chattering away like mad, one domestic, one wild. The one on the left is a young chicken with the flight feathers just appearing, the other is an adult Stonechat. The young chook was exploring its coop with two other siblings, surrounded by other chickens, the Stonechat seemed alone on it's stone on the commons as if desperately calling for a mate, whilst all around there were only Meadow Pipits, Skylarks and ... well sheep, the dog and me! We sat and watched this male Stonechat calling away for quite a while until achy bones needed to move on. The sheep on the commons moorland were grazing peacefully, the air was full of bird song, the sun was out and all was peaceful, that is until the off road bikers roared into view. Suddenly around us the wildlife burst into panic, time to move quietly on and go back to visit my charges, eighteen in all, two of which are rabbits.
This is one of them, a quiet, gentle creature unlike it's hutch companion who is the softest cuddliest looking bunny ... ha ha!
A beautiful, soft, pewter grey and camera shy, the other rabbit has over the last few days attacked me and ... drawn blood. Now, I've kept a few rabbits in my time, but I've never known one that growled!
Oddly enough it is camera shy, preferring to try and attack the camera ... and me!
So back to the recently hatched chooks, a family of three youngsters and their mam. One is a classic Easter yellow sort of a chick, but the other two are just different and lovely.
Will they be hens or roosters?  Meanwhile, I'm getting paid well in fresh laid eggs from the others and am eating delicious omelettes!
