MINDING THE ROOST

Once again, Dafad is minding the roost as the owners escape our Welsh rain and have headed off to sunnier climes, and having just checked the weather there, yep Sunshine!
Lots of it every day, unlike here where the mist clung to the mountain in dank shrouds with ominous looking clouds heading our way. Having been cooped up all night, they were eager to get out, so I gave them their freedom except for one mam with her three very young chicks. Ffin is good as gold with all this lot dashing about, and he is fasinated by the high pitched cheeps of the chicks.
They are in the top rabbit hutch as it is just too cold and soggy to let them out. The same goes for the two rabbits housed underneath. The rest are quite happy free ranging all over the garden come rain or shine, except one little character. If you can see her, in the bottom left corner, she is heading back to the shed ...
not to escape the rain, but to go grain hunting in a clever way.
This is "Earings". You can see why the girls named her that and she's a character. Last time I looked after the flock, she dissapeared but I could hear a muted cheeping in the shed as I was putting them all to bed. The food is stored in swing top bins and this little madam has worked out how easy it is to jump on the top and "open sesame" she's in!
I watched her this morning, hurry back to the shed, knowing her luck was in and bingo ...
there she is right at the bottom of the layers pellets bag, furiously gorging the grub whilst she's got the chance! When I lifted her out, she looked at me and almost seemed to smile.
