CHANGING SKIES.

Late last night, as the dog was let out for his last posts on "Dog blog." I was surprised to see the cars in the whole street, white with frost under clear, star strewn skies. Brrr!
Our first deep frost of the year and no doubt many more to come in the months ahead.
This morning ... bright cloud punctuated skies and amazingly warm with very little breeze to chill the bones. We headed up to the highest part of the mountain, where one can look across the Bristol Channel towards England. On a really clear day one can just see the gantries in Avonmouth docks, but today despite the clarity of the October sunshine and (not easily seen in this photograph) the water of the Channel was obscured by sea mist, a long thin strip of white on the far horizon.
<<< This strip of white is the water way that starts off from the sea as The Severn Estuary becomes The Bristol Channel.
The cloud formations were constantly changing, there were obviously winds high above that sped the clouds along, but down on the ground, apart from a light breeze it was warm and as we got back to the car, there was still that puddle seen in previous recent posts.
Yes, there I was again, down at ground level with the camera. I nearly got caught by cars passing by who would have wondered what this mad person was doing laid on the ground
but then the paddling pooch just couldn't resist getting wet, even on such a dry day.
But that was the end of this mornings trog through the heather, it was a case of back in the car for me and down to "The Old Church" to become part of the congregation and before you go thinking I was singing psalms on a Sunday, I was in the colloquial nickname for the pub ... drinking a mug of tea, sat quietly listening to all the banter around me as current newsworthy issues were discussed (and ... occasionally joining in). Sunday is an open forum about the politics of the day ... week, world wide news and also the latest happenings in the farming calender. It is an interesting part of the week. Then home for a few hours rest, until a look out of the window saw the skies dramatically changing.
Gone where the clear blue skies, as rain moody clouds gathered on the horizon  ...
over the top of the sheep pens there was a dynamically but slowly changing sunset.
The last of the day was highlighting certain areas of our local landscape but in the sun-setting west there were also rain clouds gathering and even as I got out the camera I was getting not only cold with the sudden drop in temperature ... but rain splattered.
As we drove home, cold and eager to get warm, the rain came in with a vengeance.
