Hello again out there, oh my what a busy week it has been one way or another. This weekend just gone was a celebration of both my folks, culminating in an evening of song and recital in the local village hall and what a great night we had of it. People had come from all over the place just to be there and to share memories and the place rang with laughter as people related various stories and anecdotes. Those that stayed here in the house were well fed and watered and on the evening the hall was filled with live music from the various musicians that my folks had known in their lifetimes. A great weekend!
I met up with people I'd not seen since my childhood, it really was a heart warming event.
Thank you to all who made it such a special weekend. Bless you!
It was a grand gathering. The last to leave had come all the way from Holland on his BMW Tourer, he left as dawn was breaking on Monday morning. Even the mad mutt seemed rather sad to see him go, so when he had left for his ferry, we went for a dawn breaking walk and so the nights curtains were drawn on the past.
But as the saying goes ... one gate closes and another one opens ...
The" rythms and reflections" of life carry on and it is good sometimes to look back at those things that helped us to grow into the folk that we have become today even if some of those memories may be tinged with the sadness of loss or the pain of misunderstanding. Yes we may grieve the loss of those nearest and dearest to us, but we can also be more positive and give thanks to them for enriching our lives simply by being a part of the rich tapestry that makes us who we are today and where would any tapestry be without the contrast of the dark and the bright to highlight the many contrasts in our colourful lives.
Meanwhile as the cogs of life turn and grind, we sometimes just have to stop still for a moment to bask in the wonderful golden sunlight that enables and indeed further enriches our existance. Take time to stand just for a little while and be grateful for such moments.
Goodnight and thank you to all those who made last weekend memorable.
